A peeling corner in a refrigerated display case signals poor handling regardless of product quality. Film labels or coated paper stocks paired with cold-temperature adhesives hold up better under refrigerator conditions. Standard permanent adhesives fail under long-term cold exposure.
Buyers respond to location-based identity and production transparency. The farm name should remain readable from a distance while production claims stay clear at close range.

Bakery packaging: bags, boxes and the cold chain
Bakery packaging covers a wide range of formats such as bread bags, clear poly bags, pastry boxes and flat seal pouches. Label requirements shift depending on the packaging structure and whether the product is sold fresh, refrigerated or frozen.
On bags, the label often carries the entire branding load: logo, product name, ingredients and weight. Windowed boxes work differently because the product itself already attracts attention. Cleaner labels with restrained copy perform better there.

Room-temperature bakery products can use standard paper labels. Refrigerated or frozen products require cold-temperature adhesives and face stocks that resist condensation. Freeze-thaw cycles place additional stress on adhesives around corners and edges.
Jars: adhesion, coverage and kitchen counter survival
Glass jars create challenges that do not exist with cartons or flexible pouches. Temperature fluctuations, surface oils and repeated handling affect label performance over time.
Wrap-around labels provide space for ingredients, certifications and product storytelling. Front panel labels reduce coverage and cost while creating a cleaner presentation. Products with detailed ingredient or sourcing information benefit from full-wrap formats.
Oil exposure quickly degrades standard paper labels. The stock absorbs residue, print contrast fades and the label develops a stained appearance. Film materials with oil-resistant coatings maintain their appearance much longer under repeated contact.
Pressure-sensitive adhesives vary in how they perform on glass. Some fail under refrigeration, washing or outdoor market conditions, and problems tend to appear only after storage or transport rather than at the point of application. Ask your supplier to confirm the adhesive specification before ordering and test a sample before full production.
